Ueno is pleased to announce the arrival of Cort Cunningham, a man whose name might unfairly suggest he’s the antagonist in a 1980s John Hughes movie.
Quite the opposite.
Cort is in fact the entirely non-fictional, “curiously introverted” new Strategy Lead at Ueno in New York, who, before joining Ueno full-time, worked with us as a freelance strategist and copywriter for nine months.
Hi Cort, what’s the most surprising thing about you that we still don’t know?
That I’m vegan. Kidding, everyone is already well aware.
What do you do outside of work?
I’m the Managing Editor of Vegan Good Life, made by a group of like-minded creatives in Berlin and NYC. I also spend time with my dogs, Pepper and Frank, read indie magazines for inspiration, and advocate for animal rights and the environment.
Why do you like Berlin so much?
It still feels like a city where you can try anything and easily find space, both mental and physical. Plus, the Berliner Schnauze fits with my personality. A bit of sass, sometimes harsh, but with a lot of heart underneath. (Kind of like Ueno, actually.)
Advice you’d give to your younger self?
Relax. Be confident in the value you bring, and work on things that align with your values. But actually, I’m glad my younger self knew less. I think I was able to be more carefree, albeit sometimes quite careless. Probably lucky to still be alive, but that’s another matter.
What’s the best thing about being you?
I give a damn.
